In a brilliant bit of casting, THR is reporting that Tina Fey and Meryl Streep are officially signed to star in Sony’s MOMMY & ME, a mother-daughter comedy directed by Stanley Tucci. Wow. It’s almost like Sony just tossed a bunch of super talented names into a hat and pulled them out.
Joby Harold is behind the script while Tucci, Steve Buscemi and Joshua Astrachan will executive produce. We’re not sure of the plot but you can assume that Fey and Streep will have a challenging mother-daughter dynamic. I’m already on board.
This truly is some great casting. Streep is arguably the greatest actress of all time and Fey is easily the funniest woman in show business. She makes mediocre films like DATE NIGHT quite entertaining while Streep wins four Oscar each year. Together, they will be unstoppable!?
