Hey all whats Happening? Hope you all had a fantastic Halloween. Mine was pretty cool, but nothing to rave about. However, what made Halloween so much more awesome was the premiere of the brand new AMC series The Walking Dead! The Walking Dead is based on a comic book series from Image Comics created Robert Kirkman. The show was created by Frank Daramont, whom is well known as the director of some of the best Stephen King book films around.
I usually enjoy Daramont’s work alot. My favorite of his films is a tie between The Shawshank Redemption and The Mist. The Walking Dead is a story about a police officer named Rick Grimes who wakes up from a coma to find nothing but destruction…..Oh and a bunch of walking dead people. As he learns of the new status quo in the world, with the help of a fellow surviver, he decides to return home to see if his wife and son are still alive. When he arrive’s home he finds nothing in his house, but notices some missing clothes, and pictures indicating that they must be travelling.
So Grimes straps up, and begins a journey to find his wife and son. Let me say first off that i’m not a huge zombie fan at all. I do like some zombie movies, but the majority don’t catch my fancy. However this show is one of those zombie stories i like so far. From what I’ve seen The Walking Dead seems like its not just a show about Zombies, but a show about Survival, and the choices you have to make to survive. one of the best scenes in this episode was the Scene when Grime’s Fellow surviver, whose name escapes me right now, is attempting to kill his zombie wife.
In the end, after trying so hard, he couldn’t do it in the end. That was a very powerful scene in my opinion. One thing i really liked about the show was it never held back on the gore factor. This show is not afraid to blow a zombie’s brains away, and show every gory detail of it. This show was HBO level ballsy i tell you what. The performances were all solid, and enjoyable. I liked Andrew Lincoln’s performance, and believe he will do a good job carrying this series. Everyone else so far in the episode was solid, and believable. However i wasn’t a huge fan of the character Shane, but he may grow on me. Overall This show will probably end up being my new favorite show. I never really watch TV besides True Blood and Sym-Bionic Titan, But i will be following this show for sure. I have no doubt that this will be the new hit Show on TV.
I give The Walking Dead’s first Episode 5 Exploding Brains out of 5
