The Hangover Part II Review

As we all know, there are some movies that just don’t need sequels. There is an endless list of films, mainly comedy or horror, that didn’t need any sequels, but they got them anyways. There is also a big list of films whose sequels are exactly the same as the original, but just in a different location. You know i’m talking to you directly Home Alone 2: Lost in New York!  Right now, i’m going to add The Hangover on both of those very lists because the sequel was the exact same movie! However, it was set in Bangkok.

The Hangover Part II Sees our beloved WolfPack heading to Thailand for Stu’s wedding, and the rest of the plot is basically the same, but with a few differences. Well The differences in question where more like replacements actually. For example, instead of finding a baby and a tiger, they found an old man and a monkey. However, the fact that this sequel was practically the same movie wasn’t my biggest issue. Mainly because i can’t really see a different way of making a Sequel to The Hangover. Sure there could have been changes here and there, but in the end we didn’t really need Part II in the first place.

Having said that, i was still excited to see this movie. I thought The Hangover was one of the best comedies i’d seen in a while, and when i heard a sequel was coming, i was instantly excited. Then i actually thought about it, and realized we didn’t really need another Hangover movie. My biggest problem was that this film wasn’t fun or even funny. The first flick was just crazy, hilarious, fun, and a great ride. The sequel is more like Part I’s evil twin brother basically, but that doesn’t mean i didn’t laugh in this movie.

I think the grand total of laughs for me was like 5, but i can’t be sure. laughing was a rarity for me in this movie. The performances were good, but no one really stood out as hilarious. The performance that got the most laughs out of me, all 5 probably, was Zach Galifianakis. However, i kind of expected to laugh at him, but not by a small amount. Over all, The Hangover Part II was a huge disappointment, and i’d say just watch the first one. At least that way you’d have an enjoyable movie experience.

I give The Hangover Part II 2 severed fingers out of 5.
