Ok I’m going to be honest with all of you. I first heard about Black Swan, the latest film from Darron Aronofsky, when i read an article titled “Natalie Portman/Mila Kunis lesbian sex scene!” ha-ha. As i read the article, it went on saying that not only will the two actresses be having sex, but hardcore sex. In the end, not only did i get to see the scene in question, but i got to see one of the best movies i’ve seen this year. Black Swan is a psychological thriller about a ballerina named Nina.
Nina is a perfectionist when it comes to the art of ballet. One day during class, one of NYC’s leading directors is casting for a brand new version of the classic ballet, Swan Lake. Nina gets the biggest part in the production. However, Nina is the best for the white swan because shes a very safe pure girl, but the role requires Nina to play the black swan. The black swan is the evil twin of the white swan. As the movie progresses, Nina starts to discover the black swan inside of her thats shes been avoiding all her life.
This is with the help of another, more out there, Ballerina named Lily whom Nina believes is trying to steal her role. If i had to describe this film, i’d called it The Shining meets Swan Lake. This is, for sure, one of the most intense movies i’ve seen this year, and i mean intense. Aronofsky has proved that he is a powerful director to be admired. Like how The Wrestler is a film about the world of Wrestling, Black Swan is a film about the world of Ballet. We get a glimpse into what these performers do to get ready for a show, and they work hard.
The story in the film was a complex one. I’m a huge fan of complexity when it comes to film. It makes the experience more engaging and thought provoking. Thats what Black Swan does it brings you into this story, and gets your brain working. The story is probably my favorite thing about the film. it starts off as a realistic look into the world of ballet, and then it leads into a very dark hallucination of an over worked perfectionist. The performances were brilliant, especially Natalie Portman, as Nina, who blew me away. I’ve always been an on and off Portman fan, but this is the best performance i’ve ever seen her do.Oscar Meet Natalie, Natalie this is Oscar.
Every time i see the beautiful Mila Kunis i always think of Meg from Family Guy. Plus i’ve never seen a a great peformance from her, but She surprised me at how good of an actress she can be. She played the sexual freebird Lily. I say Bravo Miss Kunis, Bravo. Everyone in the movie was top notch, but Portman and Kunis where the best. The score in the film was amazing as well.
It used Ballet style music to drive the intensity throughout the story. I can see this score getting some awards as well. The whole crew that made this movie will probably be getting awards this season. As i said, this movie gets pretty messed up in allot of ways. Some people might get turned off by some parts, but the story and performances will bring them right back in. Over this was an Oscar movie by definition. It is definitely one of the best films of the year, and it has a hot lesbian sex scene ha-ha.
